Junkers JU-52 back in Portugal |
||
Saturday July 15th, the Junkers arrived safely back in Portugal. Thanks to some sterling ![]() work from Strand Shipping Co., based in Mo i Rana, we got an affordable price for the shipment of the Ju52 down to Portugal. The airplane was brought into the holds of the dutch ship “Aaltje Jacoba” in the early morning of July 1st. A team from Bodø Air Station, Bodø Aviation Historical Society and the museum did the work of making everything ready for shipment. The onloading of all the components went without damage of any sorts. To ensure a safe voyage the wings and fuselage got a separate hold, these being the most fragile parts. As our specialist for the unloading in Portugal, we sent Capt. Svenn Larsen to arrange everything. At the time of the arrival in Portugal, he had everything ready and waiting: four trucks were waiting on the docks, and the Ju52 could then be loaded straight from the ship and onto the trucks. The road transport went without problems and the Junkers is now residing at Alverca. More than five years of work is now at an end. |
