Restoration

The restoration group for the museum has its workshop in a building just adjacent to the museum. Together with the library, photo section, archives and storage rooms the building is also the home of Bodø Aviation Historical Society. The Society is a volounteer group for restoring, modelling and history.

The workshops takes up close to 250 square meters of the building. Main workshop is a little more than 100 square meters. In addition we have a carpenter shop, a sheet metal shop, an instrument shop, a modelling shop and a shop for making new parts (milling and grinding.)

The restoration group is led by a curator in charge of the collection, preservation and restoring of airplanes and parts. Incoming parts and artifacts are registered, preserved and stored until used in our various projects or put on display.

The rest of the staff is made up of old hands from the Norwegian Air Force.

In an addition to this, various types of work are done by members of the Bodø Aviation Historical Society. This activity is done on a non-paid, volountary basis. Since the start the Bodø Aviation Historical Society has done several thousands of working-hours for the museum.
